The distribution of the traditional Corona de la Almudena will be in Plaza Mayor

Although we have just passed the holiday of November 1st, we are already a few days away from another traditional celebration, the Virgin of Almudena, Patroness of Madrid, which brings with it many activities, including the distribution of the traditional Corona de la Almudena.

The distribution and tasting of this traditional dessert will be on Thursday, November 9, in Plaza Mayor and will begin at 1:00 p.m.

The Crown of Almudena has its origin in 1978. It is a bagel-type bun that was born when the Villa Pastry Chefs Guild created a contest to create a sweet that could pay tribute to the Virgin of Almudena.

In addition to the distribution of this traditional dessert, on Wednesday, November 8th, a concert will be held in the Almudena Cathedral with the Orfeón Sociedad Concertos Ayuntamiento de Madrid and it will be at 5:30 p.m.

The next day, on the morning of Thursday, November 9, a solemn mass and procession will be celebrated in which the image of the Virgin of Almudena will be carried around the Cathedral.

Finally, that same Thursday, a zarzuela recital will be held by the Reina Sofía Higher School of Music in the Sony Auditorium and with free admission until capacity is reached.

Remember to stop by on Thursday in November for your portion of the Corona de Almudena in Plaza Mayor.
